English File Document Assignment Act 2 Robert Beamish

Dear Hamlet,
But soft, keep thy mind open to what strange fantasies no mortal soul could imagine of one he hold’s so close. For thy Uncle has a most devious plot to ensure his tainted throne.
He doth employ your comrades which you thought to be trustworthy as but singing birds that may perch ‘pon his wrist, and sing songs of Hamlet’s new disposition. They look not for your fortune, but only for your downfall. But, thou know in your heart of heart that such a queer thought did seize you. Now, do not consider it so queer and strange.
Hold firm to whatever drives you, if it be respect to your lost father, then hold stead-fast. For I too much loved and respected your father, but upon his abrupt death, I knew there were dark forces at play in the matter.
But Hamlet I prithee thee make haste in your statutes, for Claudius tends to send thee off to England. This is to be his remedy to the illness he has inherited through his wedding to your mother. He feels confident that your absence shall put his seat upon the throne in stone. I believe there is much deception aloof, Claudius’ deception of your madness, and how you deceive everyone with your lunacy. I know of your sanity, and I intend to keep this knowledge concealed. But I must make haste. Keep you safe dear prince.
