Final Document Assignment: Song Robert Beamish

The song sung by Horatio to tell the story of Hamlet.

Horatio: What feat of bravery and honour could’st thou not match?

Match, no, exceed

And ‘bove the honor of all others.

Acts of vengeance, and servitude

To keep thy father’s honour pure.

I proclaim none but Hamlet!

None but Hamlet, deserving of such praise have come.

Beowulf, he proves his strength, yes,

but his honour is forlorn.

The might of Achilles still rattles the Earth,

Fights like a monster I’ the fields

But traces of love to a father still not yielded.

But of Hamlet a true story now told,

Not to forget this tale so bold.

Prince o’ Denmark remain i’ my orisons,

To you the crown bestow in truth,

Not then but now, your story of youth.

My fiery passion grown of love,

To you my Prince ascend like a dove.

Though your thoughts were fiery,

Reason was due.

To thy swine of an Uncle

Who took thy father from you.

To you the task of murder was charged,

To him young Norway now charged.

But of thy mother thy Uncle was taken,

Though she was once your father forsaken.

Hamlet lost both mother and father,

To a King so like the devil.

Now his spirit remains for us to tell, and revel.

Remember him, do not forget

And if ghost approaches know this and not forget.

That ghost be good or evil have the burden of telling the truth

And avenging a father who love heard in the land.
